Created for students to connect with other classmates in a virtual setting while working on their communication skills in a fun and engaging way!
Students can practice their communication skills by expressing themselves and connecting with their peers, teachers, and speech therapists on a variety of interests/hobbies in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Students and school staff provide additional support in the form of follow-up comments, open-ended questions, and feedback to keep a conversation going and clarify any misunderstandings/confusion that may arise.
Students develop confidence with initiating conversations by creating posts related to a topic they are interested in.
Students practice polite disagreements and healthy debate/arguments with their peers when they disagree on an opinion.
Students can work on their language skills in several areas, such as storytelling, using descriptive language, asking relevant questions, providing supportive comments, articulating their thoughts in text, understanding subtle nuances in text, making inferences, seeing another's perspective, and more!
